Healthcare industry is complex and dynamic. Life-long learning is an important strategy adopted by healthcare professionals to ensure delivery of safe and high quality service to our clients. Learning itself is complex and dynamic in our context and our profession must continue to look for innovative and effective methods of learning.

The Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, with a generous donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, established the HKJC Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine (ILCM) in 2013 to facilitate introduction of innovative learning methods into our profession. Under the leadership of Drs. W.K. Tung and P.P. Chen, ILCM has made major steps to promote  simulation-based medical education. We not only provide staff, venue, equipment and facilities for simulation-based medical education but also organize courses regularly to empower healthcare professionals to use simulation effectively in education as well as run simulation-based courses for various clinical and team skills.

To ensure that all these courses are of good quality, ILCM has established a quality assurance procedure to assess courses before they are endorsed. We have also recently introduced a credentialling system for instructors.

In the coming future, we will further expand the role of simulation in healthcare and bringing in other innovative learning methods. On behalf of all of our staff in ILCM, thank you for your continuous support to us.
