It is a dual-purpose mannequin that allows hands on practice for both TEE and TTE. This simulator allows for realistic probe positioning and provides real-time views of both the 3D anatomical heart and related ultrasound planes. ScanTrainer Professional is the only ultrasound skills training simulator to offer curriculum-based teaching using real patient scans with haptic feedback, real-time assisted guidance and comprehensive metric-based assessment in one system. ScanTrainer Professional Transvaginal Simulator (TVS) uses an endo-cavity haptic probe and constraint to accurately replicate the feel of conducting transvaginal ultrasound examinations.
- Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Machine
The ECT machine is used to administer ECT by triggering a self-limiting generalized seizure with electrical stimulus. The ECT is particularly useful for the treatment of severe depression, especially when the depression is life-threatening or a rapid response is required. It is also used when other therapies have failed. Other mental conditions that can be treated by ECT include mania, schizophrenia and catatonia.
The ECT machine model in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine is MECTA’s SPECTRUM 5000Q. This model is commonly used among public hospitals in Hong Kong. It includes two channels of EEG monitoring, which is useful in monitoring generalized seizure activities. This model also allows individual electrical stimulus parameter controls, so that the pulse width, frequency, duration and current of an electrical stimulus may be adjusted to generate an optimal stimulus for a patient.
