Position Statement on
Simulation-based Learning
With the aim to promote innovative
simulation-based learning and research of high quality and to be conducted in
the most effective way to enable healthcare professionals to deliver safe and
quality patient care, HKJC ILCM has developed a “Position Statement on
Simulation-based Learning” to provide guidance for the safe and effective
use of simulation-based learning method in the postgraduate education and
training of healthcare professionals to provide a useful learning experience.

Procedural Sedation Safety Course 2021 (PSSC)
20 March 2021, Saturday (4th Course)
Procedural Sedation Safety course aims at enhancing patient safety during procedural sedation by acquiring a scientific foundation of safe practice. In the course, participants will experience the high fidelity of simulated scenarios concerning procedural sedation practice and take part in interactive problem-based learning. Upon completion of this course, participants will have a deeper understanding of the monitoring during procedure and recovery; and be able to recognize promptly and manage the sedation-related complications.
The primary audience is all those doctors involved in procedural sedation practice.
It is a one-day course, held at ILCM on 20 March 2021, Saturday (4th course) . Application is accepted now, and the deadline is 19 February 2021, Friday.
Applications will need to go through a selection process.
A notification email showing the application results will be sent to all applicants by 5 March 2021, Friday.

New Training Equipment Loan Services
With a view to enhancing the services of the HKJC ILCM provided to all specialty Colleges, we are introducing our newly initiated Skill and Patient Simulators On Loan Service. This service would enable the specialty Colleges access to additional resources for their examinations and training activities, with the use of various kinds of simulators from our Centre. This new service commences on 23 January 2017.
Various choices of simulators such as high fidelity manikins and skills simulators are available for loan. Please refer to our
loan request form for the full list of equipment.

New Library Service
The HKJC ILCM has newly launched its library service, which is open to all Fellows of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine free of charge from 23 January 2017 (Monday) onwards.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (the “HKJC ILCM”) is an establishment made possible by a generous sum of HK$53.53 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The HKJC ILCM is a purpose built facility occupying the entire 7th floor of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. With custom designed, state-of-the-art training facilities combined with dedicated faculty members and support from the Hong Kong Simulation Alliance, our vision is to become a regional simulation centre excelling in simulation based learning and research for health care professionals.
